As part of the 2025 AI Action Summit, the launch of the PostGenAI@Paris Cluster, and the Responsible AI initiative, SCAI is organizing a series of conferences on the challenges and risks associated with the use of new AI-based tools.

The SCAI Responsible AI Conferences at Sorbonne University provide a critical forum for exploring the ethical, societal, and epistemological implications of artificial intelligence. Centered around key strategic themes—disinformation, biodiversity, and regulation—these events bring together researchers, decision-makers, and experts to examine the tensions between technological innovation, regulatory frameworks, and the common good. Through keynotes and interdisciplinary discussions, the series aims to reconcile scientific rigor with informed governance in a rapidly evolving AI landscape. Open to the general public, these events invite broad participation in this essential conversation.

Third Conference – June 30, 2025:
Generative AI and Regulation: What Framework for the Future?

In a context shaped by the rapid emergence of generative artificial intelligence tools, there is an urgent need for collective reflection on regulatory mechanisms. This third conference in the “Responsible AI” series will address the complex and pressing issue of AI regulation.

What models of governance can effectively frame technologies in constant evolution? How can we reconcile innovation and responsibility in an accelerating digital world? What roles should public authorities, businesses, and civil society play in defining common rules? These questions will be at the heart of the event.

Luc Julia, AI pioneer and renowned expert in the field, will open the session with an analysis of the current dynamics between AI and regulation. This will be followed by contributions from representatives of the European Commission, the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority), and the French Competition Authority, who will examine regulatory tools and mechanisms in light of ongoing economic transformations.

Key discussion topics will include:
