Context of the CNRS call for projects

The CNRS, through the Mission for Transversal and Interdisciplinary Initiatives, is launching a call for projects in the framework of the Scientific and Social Stakes of Artificial Intelligence challenge. The objective of the latter is to support interdisciplinary research aimed at studying the impact and consequences of the use of AI tools for research and exploring the ways in which AI is changing society.

Recent advances in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its accelerated diffusion, its use in many societal fields (e.g., health), and its increasing use in almost all fields of science raise questions that need to be addressed as soon as possible. The CNRS, through its ability to cross-reference multiple fields (in particular information sciences, human and social sciences, mathematics and biology), proposes to address these issues using an interdisciplinary approach.
