SCAI welcomes the Humanities and AI Virtual Institute (HAVI) of Schmidt Sciences

At the end of September 2025, SCAI had the honor of hosting the Humanities and AI Virtual Institute (HAVI), an initiative of Schmidt Sciences.

This visit brought together researchers from around the world to explore the intersections between artificial intelligence and the humanities, and to reflect on the intellectual, ethical, and societal transformations brought about by the rise of AI technologies.

A dialogue between science, society, and culture
Discussions highlighted the richness of interdisciplinary approaches - where philosophy, data science, the arts, social sciences, and engineering converge to rethink the relationship between knowledge, technology, and humanity.

These conversations align closely with SCAI’s mission to foster collaboration across disciplines and to bridge the gap between hard sciences and the humanities within Sorbonne University and its international network of partners.

A symbolic visit to the French National Assembly
The program also included a highlight: a visit to the French National Assembly, in connection with the Delacroix Digital project, led by Sorbonne University.
This project explores parliamentary memory in the digital and AI era, illustrating how academic research and technological innovation can contribute to the understanding and preservation of democratic institutions.

Building international collaboration in humanities and AI research
The visit of HAVI and Schmidt Sciences marks an important step toward building an international community dedicated to humanities and artificial intelligence research.
SCAI looks forward to continuing these exchanges and developing new research pathways at the intersection of science, culture, and society.
