Math&AI in Paris: Building Bridges Between Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence

A strategic initiative led by the Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP)

The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP), with the contribution of the Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH), has launched the Math&AI in Paris program — a major initiative designed to strengthen the scientific leadership of the Paris region in mathematics applied to artificial intelligence (AI).
This program supports the training and integration of talented young researchers while fostering a vibrant scientific ecosystem at the intersection of mathematics and AI.

Objectives and ambitions
Math&AI in Paris aims to build strong synergies between fundamental mathematics and artificial intelligence research.
Its key objectives include:

Beyond funding, the program seeks to nurture an international scientific community committed to developing AI that is robust, interpretable, and grounded in mathematical rigor.

A collaborative research ecosystem
The program aligns with the broader strategic initiatives led by Sorbonne University through the Sorbonne Cluster for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), in partnership with the DATAIA cluster.
It also contributes to PostGenAI@Paris, a collaborative framework supporting the development of next-generation AI through interdisciplinary research.

By leveraging the excellence of Parisian universities, engineering schools, and research institutes, Math&AI in Paris reinforces the Paris region’s position as a global hub for innovation in mathematics and artificial intelligence.
