Launch of the SCAI x Aptivio Chair
Applied AI at the Heart of B2B Innovation

SCAI, SUAD, Sorbonne University and industry partner Aptivio proudly announce the launch of the SCAI x Aptivio Chair, a strategic research and innovation initiative dedicated to applied artificial intelligence in B2B contexts.

Led by Gérard Biau (SCAI) and Giulia De Masi (SUAD), coordinated by Stéphane Fadda (Aptivio),  this Chair builds a robust bridge between cutting-edge academic research and operational business challenges, with the ambition to transform AI innovation into deployable, scalable, and impactful solutions for industry.

 

A Clear Mission: Connecting AI Research with Industry Needs

The Chair was born from a key observation: while the potential of AI technologies such as LLM-powered agents, digital twins, cybersecurity systems, and predictive maintenance is tremendous, their effective transfer to industrial contexts remains a challenge.

This initiative proposes a new collaborative model, based on:

• Co-designed, real-world use cases with industry partners
• Development of open source AI components
• A clear roadmap from academic research to industrial deployment
• An international footprint, spanning Paris and Abu Dhabi

 

Scientific Focus: Advancing Agent-based AI for B2B

At the heart of the Chair lies a collaborative research program between Sorbonne Université and Aptivio, focused on the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) within multi-agent systems to enhance decision-making processes in complex B2B environments.

This program explores how the reasoning, language understanding, and adaptive planning capabilities of LLMs can be embedded into intelligent agents that:

• Detect new buyers and suppliers
• Interpret weak market signals
• Predict and recommend optimal sales actions

These agents will operate within a dynamic simulation environment, communicating through structured data and natural language to exchange insights on:

• Evolving market activity
• Customer behavior patterns
• Internal business developments

In addition, the program includes the design of domain-specific AI tools to assist sales and business teams by:

• Understanding structured business data models
• Supporting goal-oriented planning
• Responding dynamically to real-world constraints
