Faced with the challenges posed by the most recent advances in artificial intelligence, several academic institutions have come together to form the PostGenAI@Paris cluster.

This ambitious project, led by Sorbonne University, was selected from nine European and research centers as part of the “IA-Cluster” call for expressions of interest with an amount of 35 million euros over 5 years.

PostGenAI@Paris is the result of a collaboration between academic institutions with complementary expertise, drawing on the experience of the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). Supported by more than 60 industrial partners, this cluster was announced by Emmanuel Macron during the gathering of great French AI talents.

It aims to contribute to the French strategy in artificial intelligence by creating an international center of excellence dedicated to post-generative AI. This new era of AI goes beyond generating content to understand and interact more autonomously and contextually adapted to its environment. PostGenAI@Paris focuses on three main areas: disruptive technologies, health and resilient societies.

“PostGenAI@Paris therefore acknowledges the recognition of the AI strategy that Sorbonne University carries through SCAI. This project will allow us not only to sustain our actions in training, research and innovation, but also to expand our partners beyond the members of the Sorbonne University Alliance. In this way, we will be able to structure and complete our continuing education offering, by integrating law and economics, but also accelerate the transfer of our expertise to the socio-economic world,” announces Nathalie Drach-Temam, president of Sorbonne University.

Two structuring pillars

The PostGenAI@Paris scientific program is based on two main pillars. The first is made up of 21 collaborative acceleration programs (PACs), which integrate research, training and innovation. These PACs are essential for developing training through research and promoting industrial collaborations on cutting-edge subjects. The second pillar is a program designed to encourage interconnection between consortium members and guarantee the agility and evolution of the cluster.

The ambition of PostGenAI@Paris is to establish itself by 2030 as an international center of excellence, equipped with transversal expertise in AI and a robust network of socio-economic collaborations. The cluster also intends to significantly increase the number of students trained in AI each year at all levels.

Partners and support

The cluster is led by Sorbonne University and brings together members of the Sorbonne University Alliance, as well as other academic institutions: AP-HP, Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Cnam, Sciences Po, etc. The cluster also benefits from the support of more than 60 industrial partners, committing more than 32 million euros in financing.
