In January 2019, the AI4EU consortium was established to build the first European Artificial Intelligence On-Demand Platform and Ecosystem with the support of the European Commission under the H2020 programme.

The AI4EU Platform brings the AI Ecosystem stakeholders and AI resources together in one dedicated place, overcoming fragmentation, so that AI-based innovations (research, products, solutions) will is accelerated. The AI4EU Platform acts as the one-stop-shop for anyone looking for AI knowledge, technology, services, software, and experts. AI4EU functions as European AI market driver, offering a critical mass of resources, community networking effects, and rapid development and growth.

AI4EU is a large consortium of 81 European academics, technology leaders, policymakers, companies, and businesses in AI, industries, and non-AI sectors, who work together to provide access to knowledge, algorithms, and tools. They collaborate to lower barriers to use AI technologies; make AI technology visible, accessible, and usable and make expert knowledge available.

The AI4EU Platform positions itself as a comprehensive multi-stakeholders’ AI platform across the EU, aiming to bridge gaps between research, innovation, development and business. The AI4EU Platform is intended to serve as a catalyst - A catalyst to aid innovation in European industry, commerce and society using results from the scientific communities of AI.

The project is now on the right track, with more than 1300 users registered and 50 active discussions and groups. Two major events in Paris and Athens have gathered more than 2500 participants, sharing their thoughts about AI and the role of the platform. AI4EU part, participated in many events to promote the platform, decreasing the need to organize AI4EU's own events. The strategy is to have fewer but better and more impactful events.

All in all, the project momentum is growing. The second year of the project will focus on the adoption of the platform by the targeted users: researchers and academics, developers, companies.
