Franco-Moroccan Research Center Summer School

Sustainable AI for Resource-Constrained Healthcare

Campus Pierre et Marie Curie  - 4 place Jussieu 75005 Paris LIP6, room 105, rotonde 26, 1st floor, corridor 26-25, Paris,

7-11 July 2025

The new Franco-Moroccan Research Center Summer School offers immersive, interdisciplinary training for students and researchers from France and Morocco. The theme for 2025 is Sustainable AI for Resource-Constrained Healthcare.

From personalized medicine to intelligent diagnostics, robotic assistance, and ethical AI governance, artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare. AI enables the analysis of large datasets to support medical decision-making, improve patient outcomes, and optimize healthcare systems.

This summer school aims to explore the scientific and technological advances shaping the future of AI-driven healthcare, with particular attention to resource-constrained environments. It will also foster dialogue between experts in AI, medicine, and ethics.

As part of a strategic partnership between French and Moroccan research institutions, the event offers participants a unique opportunity to gain insights into cutting-edge AI tools and methods for addressing healthcare challenges—while expanding their international networks.

Objectives:

The primary objectives of this summer school are:

  • To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of  AI approaches in healthcare;
  • To facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue on the ethical, technical, and regulatory dimensions of AI applications;
  • To offer hands-on sessions and case studies that highlight the real-world impact of AI in medical settings;
  • And to foster collaboration and networking among international students and researchers working on AI for health.

Organization:

The summer school will be structured as follows:

  • Keynote Lectures (1h): Renowned experts in AI and healthcare will present insights into cutting-edge research and emerging trends.
  • Courses (1h30 to 2h): In-depth sessions covering fundamental and advanced topics in AI for healthcare.
  • Hands-on sessions (2h to 4h): Practical sessions focusing on AI methodologies, tools, and applications in healthcare.
  • Panel Discussions (45 min): Interactive sessions addressing ethical and regulatory concerns in AI-driven healthcare solutions.
  • Student and Researcher Presentations (1h): Opportunities for participants to present their work and receive feedback from peers and experts.
  • Lab Visits: Participants will have the opportunity to visit research labs to witness AI applications in real-world settings.

Topics:

  • Machine learning & Medical Imaging in Resource-Limited Settings
  • Explainable AI for healthcare
  • Graph neural networks & Knowledge graph for medical and biomedical applications
  • VLMs-LLMs for Human-Machine Interaction
  • Ethics, law and compliance of AI systems in healthcare
  • Serious games for neuro-developmental disorders
  • Conducting studies in hospitals
