When Artificial Intelligence Brings Delacroix’s Art Back to Life
Sorbonne University has launched "Delacroix Numérique", the first project of the Schmidt Sciences Humanities and AI Virtual Institute (HAVI). This ambitious program leverages artifical intelligence, 3D technology, and digital humanities to shed new light on the work and creative process of Eugène Delacroix.
Using cutting-edge technology, the project aims to :
- Digitize and annotate over 2,500 letters from the artist
- Identify individual artistic contributions within his grand murals
- Cross-analyze his texts, paintings, and drawing to reveal new connections
- Reconstruct in 3D the lost Salon de la Paix decor from Paris' City Hall
Supported by Schmidt Sciences and led by a multidisciplinary team at Sorbonne University, this initiative represents a major breakthrough in studying artistic heritage in the digital age.
