Ethics and sincerity of decision support systems

Start date
1 Oct 2020
End date
30 Sep 2023
Type
Doctoral project

This project aims to investigate issues of accountability, sincerity, and interpretability by employing techniques and concepts from decision theory and decision support, representation of reasoning and knowledge, and artificial learning.

The actions envisaged are in various fields: i) that of critical modelling of the decision-making aid process, to enable its audit by third parties; ii) that of the representation of imperfect knowledge; and iii) that of the characterisation, calculation and explanation of conservative models. They draw on a number of recent works and will seek to formulate these questions within the specific ethical and regulatory framework of the European Union, integrating its own social and economic context.
