The SCAI is a structure of the Sorbonne University Alliance able to federate the communities of the three faculties of Arts & Humanities, Science & Engineering, and Medicine of Sorbonne University, as well as members of the Sorbonne University Alliance (UTC, MNHN, INSEAD ).
The center is a cross-functional structure capable of creating synergies between institutes or between laboratory teams.

The ambition of SCAI is to contribute significantly to the excellence of interdisciplinary research and education in artificial intelligence by promoting exchanges between researchers, students and industry.

In a nutshell, SCAI’s goal is to create a large unified research and teaching center entirely devoted to AI in all its diversity, ready to meet the scientific challenges of tomorrow.

Its mission is to become the showcase of Sorbonne University’s know-how in the field of AI and to be a gateway for both academic and industrial partners.

Vision
Management

SCAI is placed under the authority of the committee of members of the Sorbonne University Alliance.

Its institutional monitoring is ensured by an interdisciplinary steering committee.

SCAI is headed by Pr Gérard Biau (Director) and Dr Xavier Fresquet (Executive Director).

It is supported by an Executive Committee of scientists from the Sorbonne University Alliance, each representing one of the centre's focus themes.

This executive committee defines and conducts the scientific policy of the center. It also has the role of ensuring and actively contributing to the scientific quality of the activities of SCAI.

SCAI also has an International Scientific Advisory Board, presided by Pr Raja Chatila, made up of recognized AI experts.

This scientific board monitors the overall activity and provides relevant insights into SCAI’s scientific policy.
